Business Matters Like Technique Matters

Artists need to be very attentive to the business side of art life.
Taking endless art technique workshops can be dangerous. Artists tend to lose their own voices.
Learning how to sell one's art is most important. Doing out reach by sending career updates via
handwritten correspondence is a good way to remind people , that your art career is still in gear.

FYI- NPR has a podcast by me. Google -One Artist's Secret To Success- Good data there.
The business of art matters. Talent in selling the art matters. Artists have to do outreach all year, out side of the traditional gallery and art festival system. I do a lot of direct mail.
Snail mail is personal, I draw on the letter and envelope. People get art from me  by snail mail.
Out marketing every other artist is a key to making sales.  I send snail mail art career updates all year. People need to brag about artists they know. Word of mouth matters. Artists need to consider self promotion.

New Year means new effort. I don't mean the art making part, I mean the business part of my art life.
I sold 31  works of art in 2014. They were my "bread and butter works."
I  am interested in getting as many of my works out in the world as I can.
So far,so good. I have learned how to post photos on Face Book. I sold two works as a result.
New effort means getting paid.
